Intelligence for UK small business.
SME Brief exists to give the people who run UK small and medium firms a clear, useful read on what's happening and what to do about it — without the filler.
We cover cashflow and finance, marketing and growth, operations, and the trades and service businesses that make up most of the UK economy. We publish our own data on UK SME demand every month, and we keep everything practical: if you can't do something with an article, we've failed.
How we're produced
We're transparent about this because we think you deserve to know. SME Brief is an AI-assisted publication. We use AI tools to research, draft and edit, working from a defined editorial standard. Nothing is published automatically without passing a structured quality and accuracy check first.
Every article goes through the same process before it goes live:
- Real sources. Factual claims and figures are checked against named, linkable sources, which we cite at the foot of the article.
- An accuracy pass. Anything we can't stand behind is removed rather than guessed at. We don't invent statistics, studies or quotes.
- A quality gate. Pieces are scored against a fixed standard for usefulness, originality and clarity. Anything that doesn't clear the bar isn't published.
Our monthly data reports are built from anonymised, aggregated enquiry data across UK service platforms operated by our publisher and partners. No personal or business-identifying information is ever used or published.
Corrections
We get things wrong sometimes. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll fix it and note the correction. Email corrections@smebrief.co.uk.
Independence & advertising
SME Brief carries advertising and some articles contain links to services operated by our publisher or commercial partners. Sponsored content is always clearly labelled as such. Advertising never buys favourable editorial coverage. See advertise with us for how commercial placements work.
